Jennifer King is a Professor and Vice Chair of Undergraduate Programs in the Department of Geography at the University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB). She joined the faculty in 2008 and conducts research in biogeochemistry with a focus on terrestrial ecosystems.
Research Interests: Her work examines natural and anthropogenic processes influencing element cycling (carbon, nutrients) through vegetation, soil, and atmosphere interactions. Key areas include:
- Photodegradation mechanisms in plant litter decomposition
- Carbon dynamics during wetland restoration
- Impacts of land management on soil biogeochemistry
Advising & Labs: She mentors graduate students and leads the Decomp Lab at UCSB's Noble Hall.
