Jennifer Irvin

Jennifer Irvin, Ph.D., is the current Dean of the College of Science and Engineering at the University of Houston-Clear Lake, effective August 1, 2024. She is a first-generation college graduate with a distinguished academic and administrative career.

• Education:
• Ph.D. in Chemistry, University of Florida
• M.S. and B.S. in Chemistry, Texas State University

Research Interests: Her work focuses on electroactive polymers and their applications in alternative energy, water purification, nerve regeneration, and disease detection. She has secured grants from NSF, NASA, DOE, DOD, and private industry.

Leadership Roles: Director of the Materials Application Research Center (Texas State University), Shared Research Operations Director, and interim executive director of the Science, Technology, and Advanced Research Park. Active in mentorship via the National Research Mentoring Network.

• Awards: Formosa Innovation Award, Presidential Distinction Award, and Outstanding Mentor Award.

Grants: Over $3M annual budget oversight at MARC, with funding from federal agencies and industry partnerships.
