Jennifer Fisher

Jennifer Fisher, Ph.D., is an Assistant Teaching Professor and Coordinator of Art Education in the Department of Educator Preparation, Innovation, and Research at the University of Missouri-St. Louis (UMSL). She holds a joint faculty appointment in the Department of Art and Design within the College of Arts and Sciences. Her roles include teaching undergraduate and graduate art education courses, directing programs for B.F.A. teaching certification in art, and advising doctoral students in art and gifted education. She is also actively involved in UMSL's M.Ed. in Secondary Education and the Teach in 12 program.

Dr. Fisher earned a B.S.Ed. in Secondary Art Education from Southeast Missouri State University (2009), a Master of Special Education (Gifted and Talented Emphasis) from the University of Missouri-Columbia (2011), and a Ph.D. in Teaching and Learning Processes from UMSL (2016). Her professional certifications include Missouri teaching licenses for art (K-12), gifted education (K-12), and English language arts (5-12).

Her research focuses on Art Education, Gifted Education, and curriculum design. She has published on topics like differentiation strategies for high-ability students and the role of art festivals in youth development. Her work emphasizes applying theoretical frameworks to practical teaching experiences, drawing from her prior roles as a K-12 art teacher, gifted educator, and English teacher.

Dr. Fisher is a member of professional organizations including the National Art Education Association (NAEA), Missouri Art Education Association (MAEA), and Gifted Association of Missouri (GAM). She contributes to the Missouri Scholars Academy during summers, fostering academic excellence among high-ability students.
