About
Jennifer C. McIntosh is a Professor and Associate Head at the Department of Hydrology and Atmospheric Sciences, University of Arizona, with joint appointments in Geosciences. She holds the Thomas Meixner Endowed Chair and is a University Distinguished Scholar. Her research focuses on isotope geochemistry applied to hydrology and climate science.
Research Interests: Her work investigates hydrological cycles, biogeochemical processes, and groundwater systems using environmental tracers and modeling. Key areas include climate impacts on water resources, interactions between subsurface fluids and ecosystems, and paleoclimatology.
Publications: Recent articles analyze Earth's energy imbalance, ocean-atmosphere interactions, and climate modeling uncertainties. Recurring themes include regional water cycle changes, cloud-aerosol effects, and observational constraints on climate feedback.
Awards:
- Thomas Meixner Endowed Chair
- University Distinguished Scholar
Advising: She mentors graduate students researching atmospheric dynamics, groundwater tracers, and climate modeling. Current projects involve NASA collaborations (Libera, DEEP-C) examining energy pathways in the climate system.
