Jennifer Burns

Jennifer Burns serves as a Lecturer and Director of Undergraduate Studies in the Department of Africana, Latin American, Caribbean, and Latinx Studies at the University at Albany.

Education:

• PhD, University at Albany

Her research centers on historical and sociopolitical dynamics of the African diaspora, with emphasis on:

• Slavery, abolition, and Black Atlantic networks
• Racial relations and migration patterns in 19th-20th century America
• Local New York State history intersecting with national politics

In her administrative role, she oversees undergraduate curriculum development and academic advising for Africana, Latin American, Caribbean, and Latinx Studies programs.
