Jennifer Buckley is an Associate Professor and Director of Graduate Studies in the Department of English at the University of Iowa. Her research focuses on 20th- and 21st-century drama, theater, performance art, and media. She holds a PhD (2011) and MA (2005) in English from Columbia University.

Her work examines speechless performance and the intersection of text/performance in avant-garde movements. Major publications include Act without Words: Speechless Performance on Modern Stages (in progress) and Beyond Text: Theater and Performance in Print after 1900 (2019, University of Michigan Press). Research explores modernism, book studies, and the evolution of performance media.
Teaching includes undergraduate courses on modern British drama, American drama post-1900, and graduate seminars in performance theory and modernist studies. She advises the Nonfiction Writing Program's performance-criticism track and oversees graduate studies in the department.
