Jennifer Booth

Jennifer Booth, DVM, MS, is an Associate Professor in the Department of Comparative Medicine at Penn State College of Medicine, where she conducts collaborative research and trains personnel in animal handling, surgery, and advanced techniques like rodent ultrasound imaging. She mentors veterinary residents in the Laboratory Animal Medicine MS program and directs the Comparative Medicine externship, fostering student-centered learning.

Her research bridges animal physiology, pharmacology, and virology, with emphases on:

• Developing simulation tools for veterinary education
• Investigating therapeutic interventions for neuropathic pain and addiction
• Studying gestation physiology and viral immunopathology using rodent models

Her recent publications (2022-2024) demonstrate strong foci on molecular pathways in pregnancy, opioid addiction mechanisms, cannabinoid therapeutics, surgical complications, and antiviral strategies. She received the Dean's Award for Excellence in Teaching three times (2019, 2021, 2022) for her educational innovations.
