Jennifer Baum is a Clinical Professor of Legal Education and Director of the Child Advocacy Clinic at St. John's University School of Law. She joined the faculty in 2008, advancing to full professorship by 2014. Her work focuses on low-income children and families, child welfare, juvenile delinquency, and poverty law.

Her research initiatives include the Foster Family Support Initiative (reducing foster care disruptions) and the Immigrant Children’s Justice Project (preventing deportation of children to abusive parents abroad). Previously, she served at The Legal Aid Society’s Civil Law Reform Unit and Juvenile Rights Division, securing landmark legal reforms for detained children’s medical care. She also held roles on the Mayor’s Advisory Committee on the Judiciary (2010–2013) and frequently testifies on child welfare issues before legislative bodies.
Professionally, she is admitted to practice in New York State courts and federal jurisdictions, and maintains memberships in national bar associations.
