Jennifer Arch

Jennifer Arch is a Teaching Professor in the Department of English at Washington University in St. Louis, where she teaches courses bridging literature, medicine, and language studies. Her academic background includes a PhD from Washington University focused on Geoffrey Chaucer's prose texts, with her scholarly editions published in The Norton Chaucer (2019).

Her research explores intersections between scientific and literary traditions, particularly through courses like Writing and Medicine, Literature and Medicine, and Stories of Medicine. Additional teaching focuses on linguistic evolution (History of the English Language), prose craftsmanship (Prose Style in English), and technical writing analysis using sentence diagramming (The Sentence in English).

She is developing a textbook titled The Architecture of a Sentence currently under review.
