Jennifer Allen

Jennifer Allen is an Assistant Professor of Technology, Operations, and Statistics at the Leonard N. Stern School of Business, New York University, joining in July 2025. She leverages computational social science methodologies to study digital persuasion, crowdsourcing, and social data analysis, with a focus on mitigating harms from social media misinformation.

• Education: PhD and Master’s in Management Research from MIT Sloan School of Management, BA in Computer Science and Psychology from Yale University

Her research integrates psychology and communication theories, employing behavioral experiments, crowdsourcing (e.g., X’s Community Notes), and large-scale data analysis to address online platform challenges. Publications appear in top-tier journals such as Science, PNAS, and Nature Human Behavior.

Prior to NYU Stern, she held roles including postdoctoral researcher at the University of Pennsylvania’s Computational Social Science Lab, software engineer at Meta (News and Civic Teams), and research engineer at ACRONYM. Her work emphasizes scalable solutions for content moderation using collective intelligence.
