Jennifer Albert serves as Associate Professor at The Citadel, where she directs The STEM Center of Excellence and coordinates the M.Ed. in Interdisciplinary STEM Education program. Her academic home is within the Zucker Family School of Education in the Teacher Education department.
Her research focuses on meaningful STEM/STEAM learning, teacher professional development, computer science education, engagement through visualization, and thoughtful use of instructional technology. Dr. Albert specializes in STEM educational evaluation and research with emphasis on K-16 computer science education, science education, educational assessment, and STEM classroom implementation.
Her recent publications reveal a strong interdisciplinary approach combining computer science education with traditional STEM pedagogy. She has published on topics ranging from project-based learning in space science to evolutionary algorithms for problem generation and professional development for computer science principles instruction.
Dr. Albert has worked on several grants specializing in broadening participation of underrepresented minorities in rural schools. She has experience teaching high school science and both undergraduate and graduate courses in Science Education, including Instructional Technology and Research Methods. Notably, she helped convert the science education Master's program to be completely online.
