Jennie Tran

Dr. Jennie Tran is an Instructor of Vietnamese at the University of Hawaii at Mānoa (UHM), where she has taught VIET 201 since Fall 2022. She also teaches German at UHM since 2012. Known as 'cô Jennie' or 'cô Thuận' in Vietnamese, she has prior teaching experience at Kaimuki High School and Kapiolani Community College.

Dr. Tran holds a B.A. in Second Language Studies, an M.A. in European Languages and Literature, and a Ph.D. in Linguistics, all from UHM. Her teaching philosophy emphasizes student proficiency in reading/writing Vietnamese, dialectal respect (promoting Northern and Southern accents), and cultivating appreciation for the Vietnamese language's beauty.
