Jennie Elizabeth Batchelor

Jennie Elizabeth Batchelor is a Professor and Head of Department in the Department of English and Related Literature at the University of York. Her research focuses on 18th-century women’s writing, literary history, and material culture, with a particular emphasis on periodicals, gender studies, and cultural analysis. She has authored influential books, including The Lady's Magazine (1770-1832) and the Making of Literary History (2022) and Women's Work: Labour, Gender and Authorship, 1750-1830 (2014). Her scholarship spans topics like embroidery in literature, women’s magazines, and the intersection of labor and gender in historical contexts.
