About
Jennie Bukowski is a researcher specializing in atmospheric science at Colorado State University (CSU), focusing on mesoscale modeling, convective cloud systems, and precipitation extremes. She completed her PhD in Atmospheric Science at CSU (2021), following an MS from the University of Michigan (2016) and dual BS degrees in Russian Language/Literature and History/Eastern European Studies from the University of Wisconsin-Madison (2011). Her postdoctoral work with UCLA and NCAR investigated mechanisms behind North American Monsoon precipitation extremes. Currently, she models WRF and RAMS for NASA’s INCUS project, studying convective mass flux and storm environments.
Research interests include aerosol-cloud interactions, haboobs, and statistical applications in earth sciences. She has led the C3LOUD-Ex field campaign, using drones to sample storm environments. Awards include the CSU Alumni Award (2021) and NSF-funded policy participation (2019). Teaching roles include CSU’s Weather & Climate Laboratory course. She mentors through CIRA/ATS Mentoring Pods and contributes to STEM outreach via the Colorado Climate Center and Teen Science Cafe.

Her work bridges field experiments (e.g., C3LOUD-Ex drone observations) with numerical modeling, emphasizing dust-aerosol interactions and climate extremes. Recent projects explore convective updraft dynamics and sensor calibration in severe storm environments.
