About
Dr. Jenni Connelly is a Senior Lecturer in Physical Activity for Health at the University of Stirling, based in the Faculty of Health Science and Sport. She holds qualifications including a BA in Sport and Psychology (2010), an MSc in Physical Activity and Health (Loughborough University), and a PhD on physical activity promotion in chronic health (collaboration with University of Highlands and Islands). She returned to Stirling as a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow on the Well!bingo project before joining the faculty in 2016.
Research Focus: Her work centers on using physical activity to prevent/manage health conditions, intervention design for hard-to-reach groups (e.g., older adults, individuals with disabilities, diabetes patients), and leveraging technology for personalized behavior change. She also investigates physical activity measurement and its motivational/societal impacts.
Teaching & Leadership: She contributes to Sport Studies, Sport and Exercise Science, Nursing, and Masters in Public Health programs. Roles include Learning and Teaching Officer for Sport, Student Engagement Officer for Sport, and member of the Athena SWAN Committee. Professional memberships include Diabetes UK, British Psychological Society (Chartered Sport and Exercise Psychologist), and the Physiological Society.
Research Collaborations: Affiliated with the Stirling Physical Activity Research, Knowledge & Learning Exchange (SPARKLE), Population Health and Public Health Research Group, and Physiology, Exercise and Nutrition Research groups. Involved in themes like Living Well and research programs in Digital Society, Ageing, and Health Behavior.
