Jenifer O. Fahey

Jenifer O. Fahey is an Assistant Professor and Director of the Midwifery Division in the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Sciences at the University of Maryland School of Medicine. She is concurrently a PhD candidate in Maternal and Child Health at the University of Maryland School of Public Health (expected 2017). Her academic credentials include:

• Bachelor of Arts in Humanities (University of Texas at Austin, 1994)
• Master of Science in Public Health (Harvard University, 1997)
• Master of Science in Nursing & Midwifery Certificate (Yale University, 2000)

Her research advances maternal healthcare through three core domains: postpartum health systems optimization, obstetric emergency training (e.g., fetal monitoring, shoulder dystocia), and evidence-based prenatal care models. She co-founded PRONTO International, an NGO training teams in low-resource settings, and contributes to Baltimore's infant mortality reduction initiative B'More for Healthy Babies.

As an editor of Varney's Midwifery (5th ed.) and Associate Editor for the Journal of Midwifery and Women’s Health, she shapes clinical guidelines. Her work bridges academic research, clinical practice, and global health policy.
