Neiderhiser’s work examines gene-environment correlation (rGE), gene-environment interaction (GxE), and early life experiences—including prenatal and neighborhood contexts—in influencing child and adolescent development. She utilizes twin, sibling, and adoption studies to dissect these mechanisms, incorporating environmental assessments within households, families, and peer networks.
Recent publications highlight collaborations with the ECHO program, investigations into neighborhood opportunity, pubertal hormones, and rural health disparities. Her research spans developmental psychology, behavioral genetics, and clinical interventions.
As the Principal Investigator of the Gene Environment Interplay Across the Lifespan lab, she leads projects in the Developmental Program Areas and partners with the Child Study Center (CSC).
