Dr. Jen Mayer is Head of the School of Human and Social Sciences at the University of West London. Previously Deputy Dean of Psychology at University of Roehampton, her research focuses on cognitive and sensory processing in Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD). She investigates how sensory information impacts learning, development, and self-developed coping mechanisms in adults with ASD.
Research emphases include:
- Sensory-cognitive correlations in ASD
- Diagnosis experiences and coping strategies
- Broader autism phenotype manifestations
- Relationships between autistic traits, sensory processing, and emotion recognition
Her recent publications examine attentional mechanisms, hierarchical processing abnormalities, and social information processing in ASD populations. Longitudinal work tracks sensory-cognitive development across the lifespan.
