Jelena Calic is an Associate Professor (Teaching) in Serbo-Croatian (BCMS), Swedish, and Applied Linguistics at University College London. She holds dual appointments in the School of Slavonic and East European Studies (SSEES) and the School of European Language and Culture Studies (SELCS). Her research focuses on applied linguistics, sociolinguistics, and intercultural communication. She earned a PhD in Socio- and Applied Linguistics from UCL in 2018 and a BA from the University of Belgrade (1996). She has held roles including Research Associate at the University of Belgrade and Serbian/Croatian teacher at Uppsala University. She currently co-directs the Platform for Linguistic and Epistemic Justice (PLEJ) at SSEES.

As co-director of PLEJ, she leads efforts to promote equitable language policies and inclusive academic practices. Her teaching spans BCMS language instruction, applied linguistics methodologies, and intercultural communication frameworks.
