Jeffrey S. Librett

Jeffrey S. Librett serves as Professor of German & Scandinavian at the University of Oregon, holding dual administrative roles as Department Head and Director of Graduate Studies for the Department of German & Scandinavian within the Schnitzer School of Global Studies and Languages.

His research encompasses interdisciplinary literary and cultural studies across multiple European traditions, with primary focus on German, French, and English literature through historical periods including Enlightenment, Counter-enlightenment, Romanticism, and Modernism. His scholarly work integrates philosophy, critical theory, inter-arts discourse, Judaic Studies, psychoanalysis, and film studies to examine cultural production and intellectual history.

As Director of Graduate Studies, Professor Librett oversees the graduate curriculum, mentors students in advanced German & Scandinavian studies, and maintains active office hours for academic guidance as demonstrated by his Winter 2023 schedule of Tuesdays 3:30-5:00pm plus appointments.
