Jeffrey S. Gurock

Jeffrey S. Gurock is the Libby M.Klaperman Professor of Jewish History at Yeshiva University's Bernard Revel Graduate School of Jewish Studies. A New York native active in academia since the 1970s, he has held visiting positions at Yale, Harvard, and other institutions.

• Education: BA from City College of CUNY, MA and PhD from Columbia University (1977)

Research Focus: Specializing in American Jewish history, his work explores:

• Evolution of American Judaism
• New York Jewish communities across centuries
• Intersection of Jewish identity and sports culture
• Orthodox responses to modernity
