Jeffrey Mitchell

Jeffrey Mitchell is an Associate Professor in the Department of Sociology at Umeå University. His research focuses on prejudice, trust in political institutions, social policies, policing effects on marginalized groups, and longitudinal quantitative methods. He explores how social change occurs over time at both individual and societal levels.

Teaching includes criminology, comparative social policy, quantitative methods, and Open Science for the Social Sciences at the PhD level. Mitchell’s work has addressed topics ranging from NATO membership attitudes in Sweden post-Ukraine invasion to the impact of historical redlining on police violence.
