Jeffrey Guhin

Jeffrey Guhin is an Associate Professor in the Department of Sociology at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). His work bridges sociology, education, and religious studies, focusing on moral life within schools and religious groups.

He earned a PhD from Yale University in 2013 and a BA from Loyola University New Orleans in 2003, with additional expertise in Modern Middle East Studies from Yale. His research critically examines meritocracy, alienation, and well-being in educational contexts, alongside studies of secularism and religious authority.

His article School beyond Stratification (2022) exemplifies his theoretical approach, analyzing how education systems prioritize external goods over intrinsic values.
