Jeffrey E. Lee, M.D. serves as Executive Vice President & Chief Physician Executive at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, holding the Irving and Nadine Mansfield and Robert David Levitt Cancer Research Chair in the Department of Surgical Oncology. With over 30 years on faculty since 1993, he previously chaired the Department of Surgical Oncology (2010-2021) and held key leadership roles including Chief Cancer Network Officer.
Dr. Lee's research program spans three decades with peer-reviewed funding focused on melanoma genetics, immune and inflammatory biomarkers, and antibody-based therapeutics for melanoma and other cancers. His clinical expertise encompasses borderline resectable pancreatic cancer, vascular resection techniques, multiple endocrine neoplasia, adrenal cortical cancer, and minimally invasive adrenal surgery. He pioneered neoadjuvant therapy protocols for pancreas and adrenal malignancies while advancing surgical management of metastatic melanoma.

As a faculty leader, Dr. Lee championed MD Anderson's Cancer Network quality platform, redesigned network strategy, and activated two major national partners. His leadership extended to serving as Vice President for Clinical Operations Strategy Execution and Deputy COO (2022-2024), where he co-led upstream capacity management and served on the COO Leadership Team. He actively participates in over 30 professional societies globally.
Dr. Lee directs MD Anderson's community development initiatives across seven national partner health systems, international Ministries of Health, and global agencies. His laboratory remains active in translational research while he oversees institutional clinical operations strategy execution.
