Jeffrey D. Means

Jeffrey D. Means is an Associate Professor of History and Department Chair at the University of Wyoming. He holds a Ph.D. from the University of Oklahoma (2007) and specializes in Great Plains Indian culture, Settler Colonialism, and Lakota history. His research examines Indigenous adaptation to colonial policies and economic systems.

His work includes analyses of Oglala Lakota cattle economies, the Wounded Knee Massacre memory politics, and Indigenous borderland dynamics. He has published in Montana: The Magazine of Western History, Pacific Historical Review, and Journal of American History.
