About
Jeffrey Brown is an Associate Professor of Computer Science at Wisconsin Lutheran College (WLC), where he also serves as the Computer Science Department Head. He holds a B.S. in Optical Engineering from Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology and a Ph.D. in Optical Sciences from the University of Arizona. His postdoctoral research at Louisiana State University and École Polytechnique focused on simulating laser-matter interactions. At WLC, he emphasizes project-based learning and teaches courses including Computer Graphics, Data Structures, and Operating Systems.
His research spans programming language design for numerical simulations and computational modeling of laser filamentation. He developed a domain-specific language to simplify mathematical modeling for non-experts and maintains software tools for simulating laser pulse propagation. Additional interests include photorealistic computer graphics and procedural dungeon generation for games.
Brown advises the Computer Science Club and serves on the Curriculum Committee. His work has been published in journals like Optics Letters and Nature Photonics, reflecting contributions to both computational science and optical physics.
