Jeffrey A. Robinson

Jeffrey A. Robinson, Ph.D., is a Professor of Management & Entrepreneurship at Rutgers Business School and holds the Prudential Chair in Business. He serves as Academic Director of The Center for Urban Entrepreneurship & Economic Development and a Research Fellow at the Rutgers Advanced Institute for Social Entrepreneurship Research. Appointed Provost & Interim Chancellor of Rutgers University–Newark in 2024, he remains a full-time faculty member.

His research focuses on social entrepreneurship, urban economic development, and equity in innovation ecosystems. He explores intersections of indigenous enterprise management, diaspora-driven globalization, and microfinance for marginalized communities.

Recent publications analyze HRM practices in social enterprises, diaspora networks in economic integration, and policy frameworks for poverty alleviation. Awards include recognition from USASBE, Aspen Institute, and Axiom Business Book Awards.

As an advisor, he has guided doctoral research on topics including entrepreneurship in Newark policy, social innovation ecosystems, and global venture creation. His work with Fortune 100 corporations, foundations, and media outlets demonstrates practitioner academic engagement.

Dr. Robinson regularly appears in PBS, NJTV, and national press including The Wall Street Journal and The New York Times. Current initiatives include the Newark Guaranteed Education Program and National Science Foundation-funded inclusivity projects.
