Dr. Jeff Young is a Professor in the Department of Business and Tourism at Mount Saint Vincent University (Halifax), where he has served since 1987. He holds a BA and BEd from Dalhousie University, an MBA from Saint Mary’s University, an MA in Educational Psychology from MSVU, and a PhD from Dalhousie. In addition to his full-time role at MSVU, he has taught part-time for over 38 years at Saint Mary’s University’s Sobey School of Business and in Cape Breton University’s MBA program.
His research focuses on management development, workplace learning, and entrepreneurship. Notable projects include curriculum redesign in Yemen (2005–2006) and studies on small business operations and human resource management in Nova Scotia. He has secured research grants totaling $28,577, including SSHRC funding for management learning studies and internal grants examining workplace learning strategies.
Key courses taught include Organizational Behaviour, Strategic Human Resource Development, and Recruitment and Selection. His recent publications and conference presentations emphasize HRM devolution, small business performance, and learning frameworks for micro-firms.
