Jeff Whetstone is a Professor of Visual Arts at Princeton University's Lewis Center for the Arts. Born in Chattanooga, Tennessee, he transitioned from a Mathematics/Zoology background at Duke University to Photography, earning an M.F.A. from Yale School of Photography in 2001. His work explores American landscapes through anthropology and mythology, focusing on human-nature interactions in wild spaces like Southern caves and Mississippi River battures. Whetstone's projects examine gender, geography, and heritage, with exhibitions at Julie Saul Gallery and participation in Prospect New Orleans. He was appointed Director of Princeton's Visual Arts Program in 2021.
