Jeff Thole

Jeff Thole serves as Laboratory Supervisor and Instructor of Geology within the Department of Geology at Macalester College. He teaches laboratory sections for introductory courses GEOL 160 and GEOL 165, and has instructed Mineralogy (GEOL 250), leveraging five years of prior hydrogeology experience from Twin Cities environmental consulting firms.

His expertise spans Igneous Petrology, Hydrogeology, and Mineralogy, directly supporting departmental research through maintenance and operation of instrumentation in the Science Division’s Keck Laboratory. He provides user training for laboratory equipment and oversees rock and sample preparation facilities.

While supervising work-study students for equipment maintenance tasks, he does not advise formal graduate students. His operational role ensures continuity for departmental fieldwork and instructional resources without mention of external grants or scientific awards.
