Jeff Hopkins

Jeff Hopkins is an Associate Professor in the Department of Geography and Environment at Western University. His research focuses on cultural conflicts over the use, design, and identity of places, with emphases on public spaces, gender, and symbolic landscapes. He has taught courses such as GEO 1400 (Introduction to the Human Environment) and GEO 3416 (Urban Culture).

His research integrates material and immaterial aspects of Western landscapes, examining themes like urban culture, consumption patterns, and postmodernism. Notable publications include a co-authored textbook, *Human Geography: Landscapes of Human Activities* (2010, Canadian Edition).

Dr. Hopkins has supervised numerous graduate students, including work on topics like heritage conservation, tourist experiences, and gendered spatial practices. Current and past students have explored themes ranging from Syrian refugee place-making to emotional geographies of home.
