Dr. Jeff Duncan-Andrade is an Associate Professor of Latina/Latino Studies and Race and Resistance at San Francisco State University (SFSU), part of the College of Ethnic Studies. He joined SFSU in 2004 and remains actively involved in Oakland public schools, advocating for transformative educational practices. His work focuses on dismantling systemic inequities in education, particularly for marginalized communities, and promoting inquiry-based learning.
Dr. Duncan-Andrade co-founded the Roses in Concrete Community School in 2015, an East Oakland K-8 institution grounded in racial and social justice. The school integrates STEM, arts, dual-language programs, and civic engagement to foster critical thinking and moral responsibility. He also co-created the Teaching Excellence Network to connect educators nationwide, advancing equity-driven pedagogical strategies.
