Jeff Bachman

Jeff Bachman is an Associate Professor at the School of International Service, American University, where he directs the Department of Peace, Human Rights, and Cultural Relations. He serves as Director of the American University International Relations Society (AMIRS), co-founder of the Mass Atrocity Research Initiative (MARI), and director of the United States Atrocities Accountability Project (USAAP). His academic focus centers on genocide, political violence, and U.S. foreign policy roles in mass atrocities.

Education: PhD in Law and Public Policy from Northeastern University, M.A. in Composition and Rhetoric from Rowan University, and B.A. in Business Management from Widener University.

Research Interests: Examines U.S. involvement in genocide and political violence, media narratives, and legal frameworks. Key areas include Yemen conflict analysis, drone policy impacts, and global atrocity prevention mechanisms.

Publications: Authored The Politics of Genocide (2022) and The United States and Genocide (2017). Edited volumes include Genocide Studies: Pathways Ahead (2024) and Cultural Genocide (2019). Over 20 peer-reviewed articles address topics like genocide documentation, media bias, and legal accountability.
