Jeasurk Yang is a post-doctoral researcher at the Max Planck Institute for Security and Privacy (MPI-SP) in Bochum, Germany, specializing in Development Geography. He holds a PhD in Geography from the National University of Singapore (2024). His work focuses on urban poverty dynamics and slum monitoring using satellite imagery and machine learning. Currently leading the SegSlum project with collaborators from NUS and KAIST, he investigates slum populations across nine countries to support UN Sustainable Development Goal 11.
