Dr. Jeanette den Toonder holds dual roles as Assistant Professor in the Department of European Languages and Cultures and Director of the Centre for Canadian Studies at the University of Groningen's Faculty of Arts. Her research focuses on contemporary Francophone literature, particularly Iranian women’s writing in Europe, migrant narratives, and gender studies. She leads interdisciplinary projects such as the Human Mobility and Migration Lab, examining migration’s societal impacts, and co-edits the DiGeSt Journal of Diversity and Gender Studies. Den Toonder’s teaching spans gender theory, cultural transfer, and literature pedagogy, emphasizing intersectionality and global perspectives.
