Dr. Jeanette Kohl is an Associate Professor of Art History at the University of California, Riverside (UCR) and Co-Director of the Center for Ideas and Society (CIS). She holds a Ph.D. from the University of Trier (Germany) and has held positions at institutions including the Max-Planck-Institute for Art History, University of Leipzig, and Friedrich-Schiller-University Jena. Her research focuses on Renaissance sculpture, portraiture, and the intersection of art and medicine, with notable projects including the edited volume Similitudo and her upcoming book The Life of Busts. She has led initiatives such as the Power of Faces international network and UCR’s Medical Humanities programs. Her work is supported by grants from the Mellon Foundation, NEH, and others. Key contributions include interdisciplinary studies on facial representation, Renaissance aesthetics, and Neoplatonic concepts in art.
