Jean Molitor

Jean Molitor is an internationally recognized German photographer and artist, currently serving as Artist/Photographer in Residence at Bilkent University's Faculty of Art, Design, and Architecture (COMD). Born in East Berlin in 1960, he studied artistic photography at the Leipzig Academy of Visual Arts under Prof. Arno Fischer. His career includes extensive freelance work in reportage for print and television, alongside his artistic projects.

• Awarded residencies at the Goethe-Institut (Ankara, 2019), Thomas Mann House (Los Angeles, 2022), and Bilkent University (2024).
• Known for the bau1haus project documenting modernist architecture globally, with exhibitions in Europe, Africa, and South America.
• Contributed to international collaborations like the Shared Heritage Africa project in Nigeria and Uganda.

Research focuses on modernist architecture’s global influence, with exhibitions emphasizing cultural heritage preservation and cross-continental architectural exchanges. Key publications include books like bau1haus – die Moderne in der Welt (2018) and Bauhaus in Africa (2024).
