Jean Beggs

Jean Beggs is a Royal Society Darwin Trust Research Professor and Professor of Molecular Biology at the University of Edinburgh. Previously, she held positions as a Senior Research Fellow in Edinburgh's Department of Molecular Biology, a Fellow at Royal Society University Research, and a Lecturer at Imperial College, London. Her research focuses on RNA splicing mechanisms and their links to transcription, with contributions to biochemistry and molecular genetics.

Her honors include the Royal Society's Gabor Medal (2003) and a CBE for services to science (2006). She is a Fellow of the Royal Society, Royal Society of Edinburgh, and a member of Academia Europaea.
