Jayne Ressler

Dr. Jayne Ressler is an Associate Professor of Law at Brooklyn Law School, where she has taught since 2000. Her primary responsibilities include instructing in legal writing, civil procedure, and professional responsibility. Before joining academia, Professor Ressler practiced as a litigation associate at Mintz & Gold and specialized in labor and employment issues at firms like Baker & McKenzie (New York) and Wolf, Block, Schorr & Solis-Cohen (Philadelphia). She also served as a freelance author on fair housing topics for Brownstone Publishers.

Research Focus: Her scholarship explores critical intersections between procedural law and privacy rights, particularly focusing on: anonymization practices in litigation, pseudonymous plaintiff protections, and modern challenges to civil jurisdiction frameworks. Additional work examines employment discrimination patterns and the ethical implications of digital transparency in legal proceedings.

Publication Trends: Over 20 years, her research has traced evolving privacy dynamics in three key areas: 1) digital anonymity in litigation contexts, 2) procedural safeguards for vulnerable plaintiffs, and 3) jurisdictional challenges in multistate practice. She maintained a newsletter series Fair Housing Coach from 2000-2004.
