Jayne Mechan is a Senior Lecturer in Fashion Technology at Manchester Fashion Institute, teaching across Womenswear, Menswear and Sportswear pathways. She specializes in 2D/3D digital communication methods and leads the final-year pastoral care. With industry experience as Director of Professional Services implementing global PLM systems, she now pursues PhD research on 'Artificial Female Bodies as an Intervention'.
Her research examines 3D digital approaches to body representation, inclusivity, and hybrid physical-digital ('phygital') practices using tools like CLO3D, body scanners, VR/AR, and 3D printing. Notable projects include the TRANS exhibition on female form representation (2018-2019) and NHS-funded prosthetic development using 3D printing.
