Jayne Hackett is a Lecturer in Education at University College Birmingham with qualifications including a BA (First-class Honours) in Early Years Education Studies and a Post Graduate Certificate in Learning and Teaching in Higher Education. Her career began in early years practice before transitioning to higher education where she has managed the Childhood Studies Foundation Degree Programme and Level 4-5 Apprenticeships.
Her research interests focus on professional identity within the early years workforce, andragogical approaches to higher education, and fostering creativity and criticality in young children. She maintains active engagement through the Early Childhood Studies Degree Network's Research Strategy Group and serves as Designated Safeguarding Lead on the Equitas Academies Trust Board.
Teaching areas include children's voice research methods, creativity and play, behavior management, early years frameworks, safeguarding practices, and inter-professional collaboration in education settings.
