Jay Turner is the James McKelvey Professor of Engineering Education, Head of the Division of Engineering Education, and Vice Dean for Education at the McKelvey School of Engineering, Washington University in St. Louis. His expertise lies in air quality characterization and management, with a focus on field measurements and data analysis to support atmospheric science, policy, and health studies. He has held roles at the Federal Highway Administration and has sabbaticals at UC Davis, Sonoma Technology, and Harvard School of Public Health.
Education: DSc (Washington University, 1993), MS (UCLA, 1987), and BS (UCLA, 1987). Research is funded by NIH and UNICEF. Awards include the Distinguished Faculty Award (2003), five-time Professor of the Year (Engineering), and the inaugural Dean’s Award for Excellence in Teaching (2013).
He chairs the Science Advisory Board (SAB) panels for the U.S. EPA and led the AAAR as past president. Affiliations include the Center for Aerosol Science and Engineering (CASE). His lab is in Brauer Hall, Room 3038, with ongoing work on science-based policy and community-driven interventions for air quality.
