Dr. Jay Potts is Professor of Cell Biology & Anatomy at the University of South Carolina School of Medicine, where he directs research in cardiac development and regenerative therapies. His lab focuses on molecular regulation of heart valve formation and stem cell-based approaches for myocardial regeneration.
Current research explores peptidergic therapies using encapsulated CGRP analogs for heart failure treatment and novel 3D tissue engineering platforms. With over 50 publications, his work bridges developmental biology and translational cardiovascular medicine.
Dr. Potts also serves as Director of the Genomics and Proteomics Core and Associate Director of the Instrumentation Resource Facility, supporting biotechnology research across the university.
