Jay Matherne is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychological Sciences at Loyola University New Orleans’ College of Arts and Sciences. He joined Loyola in August 2022 after teaching at the University of New Orleans for 18 years (2004–2022). His academic background and professional experience focus on developmental, clinical, and educational psychology.

At Loyola, he teaches courses such as Introduction to Psychology, Developmental Psychology, and Child Psychology.
