Javier Mejia is a Lecturer in the Department of Political Science at Stanford University, affiliated with the Stanford Civics Initiative, Stanford Center for Latin American Studies, and Stanford Center for Poverty and Inequality. He holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Los Andes (2018), an M.A. in Economics from the same institution (2016), and a B.A. in Economics from Universidad de Antioquia (2012). Previously, he served as a Postdoctoral Associate in Economics at New York University Abu Dhabi and a Visiting Scholar at the University of Bordeaux.
His research focuses on the intersection of social networks and economic history, with specialties in entrepreneurship, political economy, Latin America, and the Middle East.
