Jasper de Vries

Dr. Jasper de Vries is an Associate Professor at the Landscape Architecture and Spatial Planning cluster of Wageningen University, specializing in trust dynamics within environmental governance and spatial planning. His research focuses on trust development in rural environmental transitions, particularly in contexts like water governance, land use conflicts, and nature conservation. He holds a PhD in land use planning and strategic communication from Wageningen University.

Key areas of expertise include agri-food value chains, participation methods, and communication science. He has led European projects such as SEMEDFIRE and FIRE-RES, addressing wildfire management and sustainable land use. His work emphasizes transdisciplinary collaboration with stakeholders from government, civil society, and business sectors.

De Vries has extensive experience in participatory planning and innovative tools for sustainable development. His research spans Europe and sub-Saharan Africa, with a focus on trust's role in policy implementation and institutional trust-building.
