Jasper Rine

Dr. Jasper Rine is Howard Hughes Medical Institute Professor and Professor of Genetics, Genomics, Evolution, and Development at UC Berkeley. His research investigates epigenetic mechanisms of gene regulation using yeast models and human genetic variation.

Research employs Saccharomyces cerevisiae to study heterochromatin formation, epigenetic inheritance, and chromatin dynamics. Recent work reveals feedback mechanisms governing chromatin bistability and context-dependent regulation of transcriptional silencing.
