Jason Webb is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Visual Communications at the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications, Syracuse University. He joined as a tenure-track faculty member in Fall 2023. His teaching focuses on Motion Design, Character Animation, 2D/3D Animation, and Augmented/Virtual Reality. Prior roles include Online Learning Analyst at Syracuse University, adjunct professor at Newhouse and the College of Visual and Performing Arts, and an itinerant computer education specialist.
Webb’s research centers on XR in Education, aiming to create engaging educational content through technological innovation. He leads the EDUCAUSE Learning Lab’s XR in Research initiative and publishes on remote instruction and fostering creativity via technology. He holds professional certifications from Adobe, Apple, Google, Microsoft, and EDUCAUSE XR.
Currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Teaching and Curriculum from Syracuse’s School of Education, Webb also has an M.A. in Television, Radio, and Film (Newhouse, 2017), an M.S. in Technology Education (Oswego State, 2005), and a B.S. in Technology Education (Oswego State, 2001).
