Jason Twede is an Associate Professor in the Department of Sociology, Anthropology & Criminal Justice at Utah State University's College of Humanities and Social Sciences. He earned his Ph.D. in Criminal Justice from the University of North Dakota and holds a J.D. from Thomas M. Cooley Law School. Prior to academia, Twede served as a prosecutor in Arizona specializing in drug interdiction, arson, and medical marijuana cases.
His research focuses on criminal law, criminal justice ethics, the history of prosecution, medical marijuana policy, and citizen perceptions of law enforcement. Twede's publications examine visual representations of policing and socioeconomic dimensions of drug policy reforms.
Twede has received multiple honors including the 2019 Professor of the Year Award at USU's Tooele Campus and several academic scholarships. His teaching portfolio includes courses on criminal law, evidence and procedure, and criminal justice ethics.
