Dr. Jason Strunk serves as the Visiting Director of Choral and Vocal Activities at Shepherd University, where he conducts Camerata, Chamber Singers, and the Masterworks Chorale. Previously, he was Performing Arts Department Chair and Director of Choral and Vocal Studies at Georgetown Day School (GDS) in Washington, D.C. He holds a D.M.A. in Choral Conducting from the University of Miami Frost School of Music, an M.S. in Music Education from Towson University, and a B.A. in Music from Mansfield University of Pennsylvania.
His professional engagements include guest conducting at venues like Carnegie Hall, the Washington National Cathedral, and the Kennedy Center. He has led performances of major works such as Haydn’s Missa in angustiis and Fauré’s Requiem, and has collaborated with artists like Andrea Bocelli. Additionally, he serves as Artistic Director of Renatum, a D.C.-based professional chamber choir, and has presented lectures on music’s intersection with politics and power.
Dr. Strunk’s expertise spans choral pedagogy, historical performance practices, and contemporary repertoire. His work emphasizes interdisciplinary connections between music and humanities, reflected in his academic writings and conference presentations.
